Art of Indexing Author to speak April 23

The Arkansas Chapter STC proudly presents the fifth Saturday Seminar Series with Larry Bonura, author of The Art of Indexing. Join us on Saturday, April 23, at 11 am in Dickinson Hall, room 106. You can find Dickinson Hall (DKSN) on the UALR campus using the interactive campus map. Parking on campus is free on Saturdays, and Dickinson Hall is easiest to find from Lots 1 and 8 in the center of campus. Dickinson is near the pyramid-shaped Cooper Fountain (on the other side of the fountain from the building we often meet in).

(From the back cover) "Numerous surveys indicate that the most common complaint about technical documents concern a poorly designed index -- or the lack of an index altogether! An organized, thougthful index not only ensures that the contents of your book are accessible, but also more valualble. The Art of Indexing shows techical writers, editors, and documentation managers how to chart the topics of their books, reports and documents, and present a concise and accurate map that readers, researchers, libraries, bookstores, and reviewers can use to maximize the usefulness of their book."

Larry Bonura will have copies of The Art of Indexing for sale at a discount, or you can bring your copy for an autograph.

Interested members of the public are welcome to attend this presentation; membership in STC is not required. For additional information about this or other Arkansas STC events, please contact Dr. Karen Kuralt, the chapter president, at (501) 569-8340 or kmkuralt ualr.edu.
